Life After MetaTrader: Best Prop Trading Platforms 2026 (TradeLocker vs cTrader)

You are reading Lesson 3 of the prop-trading course.

1. TradeLocker: The Visual King

TradeLocker has become the default choice for many prop firms (like Funding Pips).

  • The Killer Feature: It integrates TradingView charts natively. If you analyze on TradingView, you will feel at home.
  • Pros: Incredible mobile app, on-chart trading, and a built-in risk calculator.
  • Cons: It's still new. Occasional lag during high-impact news (NFP).

2. cTrader: The Professional's Choice

cTrader has been around for years but was overshadowed by MT4. It is the most robust alternative.

  • The Killer Feature: Smart Stop Out. Unlike MT4 which closes your biggest position first, cTrader partially closes positions to keep your margin alive.
  • Pros: Blazing fast execution, server-side trailing stops (works even if you go offline), and a clean UI.
  • Cons: Not all prop firms offer it due to higher licensing costs.

3. DXtrade: The Customization Beast

DXtrade is the white-label solution many firms panic-switched to. It is highly customizable but clunky.

  • The Killer Feature: Trading Journal. It has a built-in performance dashboard to track your metrics.
  • Pros: You can move every widget. Good for multi-monitor setups.
  • Cons: The mobile app feels slower than competitors. The interface can be overwhelming for beginners.

Verdict: Which should you choose?

  • Choose cTrader if you are a scalper needing speed and reliability. It is the closest thing to institutional software.
  • Choose TradeLocker if you trade on mobile or love TradingView charts. It is the most user-friendly.
  • Avoid DXtrade unless your firm gives you no other choice, as it has the steepest learning curve.
